Happy 3 Months...

I can't believe our sweet baby girl Lyla is three months old today.

What you have been up to.....
  • You are the happiest baby ever. The only time you cry is when you are hungry or getting tired and even then it's just a little whimper.
  • You are probably about 12 lbs (we will find out today when we go for your 3 month shots..eeek)
  • Wear a size 1 diaper
  • In size 3-6 month clothes
  • Nursing in the afternoons when I get home from work twice and you still wake up around 2:00 a.m. to nurse once in the middle of the night.
  • You are still not napping very well at daycare and are eating 40z every 2 1/2 hours.
  • You seem to love daycare and that makes me very happy. I am so ready for these 5 weeks to pass though so we can spend the entire summer together and I get to watch you grow and discover new things each day.
  • You still sleep in your bouncy seat in the middle of our bed..ha! Yes, you are getting too big for it but you sleep so well in there, my plan is to get your either in your bassinet or big girl bed during the summer. It is going to be hard for me though because your daddy either works nights and evenings and I just like to know you are safe beside me with us here alone.
  • You LOVE looking at the TV, I think all of the colors and movement amaze you. It is so funny to watch you try and turn your head completely around when we face you towards us or when we get in the way of your "shows"...ha!
  • You also LOVE when we sing to you or music is on. You will just sing along and I think you have the most beautiful voice every!
  • You also love to talk you can be sitting in a room by yourself and I can just here you in there talking away..you do this in your sleep also :)
  • You have found your hands and ears. When you nurse you love to play with your ear or pull the back of your hair..I feel like it has to hurt you but you love doing it. You can't keep your hands out of your mouth..It's so bad you gag yourself a lot of the time and it scares me to death.
  • I have started playing peek-a-boo with you when we change your clothes in the morning and you think it is the funniest thing.
  • You are also very ticklish, I came in the other day and your daddy had you belly laughing from going from your toes all the way up to your little double chin...you thought it was hilarious!!!
  • We call your Gigi almost every night so that you can talk to her. It is so funny because I will sit you in your bumbo and say we are going to call Gigi and you her the phone ring and you immediately start talking...You are such a smart little girl.

You are our entire world and you have your daddy wrapped around your little finger. We love you to the moon and back.

My First Easter

My little Easter Bunny!!!

We haven't had a really eventful first Easter but it was Lyla's first so it meant a lot to us. When I was out on maternity leave my district had a snow (ice) day and since we had to make it up the only day we had was Good Friday..booo! Well I got to thinking and we weren't going to have anyone to watch Lyla since I knew both of us were probably going to be working...So Gigi had no reservation when I told her about our situation, she said she would be here no worries :) She got here Thursday afternoon and only stayed through Saturday (I am so mad at myself I didn't get pictures of the two of them but it just seemed like such a quick trip!)
Lyla got to get Gigi loving all day Friday and then we just hung around here Friday night and Saturday until mom left. She got her very first Easter basket from her Gigi and some super cute outfits...she loves them!!!

Sunday morning we got up and headed to church. This was her first time at the church we go to here in Houston, Jason was worried the band was going to be too loud for her but she did great. We were walking in and the greeter guy was like "doesn't she need to go to the nursery and I was like she will be okay" Not sure if he was okay with that which was weird to me but like an angel she just laid there and listened to a great sermon!! We then headed to one of favorite places..the Cheesecake Factory..YUMMY! It was the first time ever I don't think we had to wait and hour..ha! We got straight in and enjoyed a delicious lunch. A perfect Easter Sunday wouldn't be complete without a 3 hour nap, and that is exactly what Lyla and I did when we got home. Now it's time to get ready for another long week and pray that my kiddos do well on their TAKS test Thursday...but I know they will :)

I will finish with our photo shoot from today!

Easter bunny story.....I can't forget this, Jason and I took Lyla to the mall the other day to get her picture taken with the Eater bunny. While we were waiting in line and watching all of the kiddos get up there Jason and I got to talking. I always said I would never make my kid get up there and take a picture if they were terrified and screaming their head off. Well, we end up waiting in like like 30 minutes. We were up next in line and Lyla was obviously tired and was ready for a nap and she started crying...I looked at Jason and said she is getting her picture made..ha! I guess I see where those parents come from when they make their kids take the picture after standing in line for what seems like forever...ha! It was different with her being tired though than being terrified :) So, needless to say she wouldn't give us a smile but she did just sit there..I think it would have worked out better if the bunny wasn't either scared to hold a baby or just didn't care about the picture as much as I did with holding her up. It worked out okay for her first picture with the Easter bunny and she still looks pretty as ever!!

Long week and a half..

Up and ready for daycare!!!

It has been the longest but shortest week and a half of my life. I say shortest very loosely because I feel like I have just been in just a whirlwind of emotions and new routines that I don't even know where the last few weeks went to.

First two days of daycare went well as far as getting her there and to work on time, but by Friday night I was so exhausted I could barely keep my eyes open. My biggest issue at first was time management. I had to figure out the best time for me to get up and get all of my morning chores done along with getting her ready, fed and us out the door by 6:30...running on just a few hours sleep because she has decided that she doesn't want to sleep through the night anymore. I feel like with her still not waking up at the same time every morning that I have to play my morning by the last time she woke up. I have gotten this down pretty well along with my pumping schedule at work. I am just counting down the days until summer break is here and I don't have to pump so much..it is very time consuming but I know that it is for the best so I just keep pumping on :)
I noticed Friday night that Lyla's nose was kind of stuffy...well by Saturday it was terrible. Only two full days at daycare and she already has her first little cold. I felt horrible for her and she still has the stuffy nose but it has not bothered her one bit. I think it bothers me more than her..she loves when I get the aspirator out and cleans her nose...she just laughs, but she isn't a big fan of the saline drops. I took her into the doctor Monday just in case it was something more serious but she said it wasn't and just to keep an eye on her for the next two weeks. She is still eating fine and her sleeping was off before her nose but I think it may have a little do to with she can't breath at night. I keep the humidifier going but it seems to not be doing much either.
We got some terrible news on Saturday that Jason's first cousin Jerry had passed away and so he had to load up and head to Arkansas Sunday...we were hoping that we were going to get to go but it just didn't work out. It was a very hard time for their family but Lyla and I prayed for them daily and we are still keeping them in our thoughts. He was an amazing person just for the few times that I did get to meet him and I know that he will be missed by all, but he is now in heaven watching down on all of us.
Thursday morning I was getting Lyla ready to head out the door and Jason cuddled up next to her and said he thought that she needed to spend the day together with him. I was very happy that he wanted to keep her all day although a small thought in the back of my head was like he has only watched her for a few hours not 8-9 but I KNEW that he could do it and I headed off to work. He never once sent me a message asking anything I had to send him one to see how it was going and he said that he was having a GREAT day with his little angel..it melted my heart :)
Friday 3:30 finally arrived and we began our weekend together. We had a couples baby shower to go to last night and it was a lot of fun and now we are rested up and heading to another Spring BBQ. Times like this are even more precious now with Lyla and our little family I am beyond blessed and thank God daily that he has provided for us and has given us so many blessings.

Only 6 more full weeks of school and then the final week of craziness until I am home to spend probably the best summer ever with my little Diva!!!
My Easter onesie my Aunt Lindsey made me :)
Happy girl!!

1st day of daycare...

They were probably calling me the crazy mom by the time I left Lyla for just her first few short hours at daycare this morning. I think I packed WAY too much stuff that they just sent right back home with me. My thought process was they would just keep it there but ends up I bring it every day...which is more work for me but that is okay. So now instead of leaving extra paci's, bottles, clothes, diaper cream, and such there I must leave it in her diaper bag that goes with her daily.I was in such a frenzy yesterday trying to make sure I had everything together I didn't realize my printer was out of ink so I ran to Target to get some well crazy me just thought that it was only the black in and not the color well I got home and still couldn't print out her 2 page schedule and "all about Lyla page" I typed up (yes this is why they probably think I am super crazy..ha!) I didn't want her to go today with out it so my semi-rested brain thought about getting it faxed there so wonderful Gigi let me e-mail it to her and she faxed it over to the
daycare for me this morning. I was very thankful adn relieved at least they would know a little bit about her until they get used to one another. I was so frazzled I also forgot the name of her teacher..I know the afternoon was Karen, but I can't for the life of me remember her other one..which is driving me crazy! Guess I will get it in the morning.

Everything went pretty smooth...except for Lyla is off of her normal schedule for some reason. She usually sleeps from between 10-10:30 and gets up around 4:30 a.m. to feed. Well she has still been going down at 10-10:30 but she is waking up at 2:00 and then again at 5:00 a.m. Which is not only messing up the schedule I had worked out for me getting up, working out, and getting ready for work but also my sleep. I am hoping it is just a growth spurt and we will be back to normal soon because this momma has to go back to work in a few days and I'm tired! I got her unloaded and dropped off without a tear this morning..I was very proud of myself but I knew that I would be coming back shortly to get her so this may be a different story come Thursday when I have to leave her from 7-4. YIKES! She has been asleep for a good 3 hours now she was so tired when I picked her up because he longest nap is in the morning and I guess she stayed awake almost the entire time just looking around the lady said...she had to see what this new business was and why her momma had left her there.
I was very thankful for those few hours though..I forgot how easy it is to knock out a to do list when you only have to get yourself out of the car and it takes a few seconds to run in and out of somewhere. She came home just a talking and carrying on so I guess she was okay there for the day!
Lyla and her daddy before he left for work yesterday. He loved that I spiked her hair up.ha!

Lyla enjoying some AMC awards last night, that is the longest I think she has ever laid on the bed so content...
