Happy 5 Months Baby Girl....

Lyla Faith Morris I can't believe you are already 5 months old!!!

You are the light of our lives and we can't imagine one second without you.

What you have been up to....
  • Wearing size 2 diapers
  • You weight about 15 pounds
  • Wearing 6-9 months clothes
  • You LOVE to eat :) You have now had pears, peaches, sweet potatoes, avocado (didn't like, will try again) and your ALL TIME FAVORITE - Bananas, I can't get them to you fast enough before you are mouth wide open and kicking your feet :)
  • You are the HAPPIEST baby ever when you are at home but for some reason here lately when we go out you aren't fussy but you just get this look of concern on your face when people start talking to you.
  • You LOVE being at home though, I think it's just a comfort thing..you will just talk, laugh, sing, and SCREAM as loud as you can as we rotate you through your "stations" through the day.
  • You have started crying if I walk past you and don't talk to you or if you are ready for me to pick you up..you are a momma's girl! It makes your daddy sad but I know one day you will do the same to him :)
  • You love to sit in your daddy's lap and watch music videos or listen to music..it is kind of like your special moment with each other..it just melts my heart!
  • You still don't like rolling over but you can do it, both ways, because we have seen you several times.
  • You have started blowing bubbles and slobbering everywhere, I have a feeling some teeth will be coming in very soon.
  • You absolutely LOVE your bouncer..you could stay in there always as long as you weren't sleep or hungry! You get so excited in there you just scream and laugh.
  • You like to sit in your swing but don't like for us to turn it on anymore.
  • You LOVE it outside when we carry you instead of being in your car seat somewhere, you just look around and take the world in
  • You also LOVE Baby Noah..I swear you are making some of the animal noises at times
  • The BEST news for this month is you are in your bassinet and sleeping through the night. Which is great news for your tired mom! It is so cute to wake up and see your little booty sticking in the air and see your smiling face...but for some reason your new thing is to scratch your finger nails across the sheets and that sometimes sounds like nails on a chalkboard so I have to make sure I keep them cut down short now..ha!
  • I feel like you are going to be one of those girls that marches to your own beat and does things at your own pace, I feel like each month we reach a new milestone and I am so happy to see your grow and learn each day.
  • Your hair is starting to grow back in also and you have a little rat tail in the back..it is too cute :)
  • You are grabbing everything in site (and it goes straight in your mouth) so we have to be careful what we lay around in your reach..I am afraid for the dogs and their tails very soon...
  • You love to sit at the table when we are eating (we are about to have to upgrade your bumbo to a highchair because your legs are getting stuck every time we try and get your out..ha) and watch just your daddy eat..I hope you don't take after his eating habits..LoL
  • We have a pretty good schedule down now that you are sleeping through the night.
  • Another great thing is that you are taking all of your naps in your big girl bed the past week as well. They are still only between 30-45 minutes but you have always loved your cat naps.
As always your daddy and I love you to the moon and back!!!

Trip To Beach

Not really a real beach trip..just more to take some photos because it was WAY to hot out there for her to stay too long and I was going to let her feet touch the water but she did something to her toe and it has a little cut on it so didn't think that was such a good idea today either! We are going back next week when Jacob, Kim and Asher get here so hopefully will get more pictures then :)

Daddy walking her out to the water.

Beach Babe!

Look at that figure in her bikini :)

Happy First Father's Day!

Happy First Father's Day Jason!! Lyla and I love you so very much and we are thankful that you are such a hard working, loving, and one of a kind dad and husband :)
We had a low key day today..I got up and made Jason cinnamon rolls for breakfast then him and Lyla took a morning nap after that. We then just lounged around until this afternoon when we went and picked up some dinner and got sno-cones!
Jason told me us not to get him anything but he got me a bouquet of flowers for mother's day so we got him a bouquet of cookies for father's day..ha! They aren't as good as the ones we had when I had Lyla from the cookie bouquet but they are still really good.

I think this girl makes him the happiest guy in the world though..why wouldn't it though, have you seen our precious angel :)
We hope you had a wonderful day Jason and we love you very much!!

Can't have too many nights like this...

Well needless to say I am seeing a nap in my near future today! I should have know she wasn't tired when every time I asked her if she was ready for night night and she would laugh at me (I think we are in for some trouble..ha) Well I decided early in the night that she had done so well in her bassinet the last five nights that we would try her "big girl bed" Well that may have come back to bite me in the butt after the night we had last night. We did our normal routine and I rocked her to sleep and went to lay her down in her room. She laid right down and I was thinking YES! Well that was short lived by the time I got into the other room I saw on the monitor she was WIDE awake. I gave her a little bit to see if she would go back to sleep so I went in there and tried to pat her back to sleep..this went on for a good 15 minutes and she was running her finger nails against the sheets to make this loud noise (I am assuming to keep herself awake..ha) So I got her out and tried rocking her to sleep again and she was so amused by her room she just kept pushing back so she could see all around her!
I then decided to just put her back in her bassinet for the night..well I guess she was so wound up she wasn't having it! I finally rocked her back to sleep around 10:00 and laid her down I heard her once again in there talking and rubbing her finger nails across the sheet but I was just going to let her have it this time...I walked in there to go to bed about 10:30 and this is what I saw (remind you I laid her down on her belly and she hates turning over from her belly to back) Well not tonight because I see this :)
She obviously was NOT ready to go to bed...I got her up changed her and tried one last time to rock her and she would bury her head in my arm or push back as hard as she could so that I couldn't cuddle her and rock...So we are not at about 11:30 and I am exhausted! So I lay her down back on her belly and pat her (still head up and scratching the sheets) I think she finally gave it up about 11:50. Needless to say I am TIRED today!! I pray this was just a mix of me putting her in her big bed or just an off night because I can't have many nights like this..LoL!!!

Sippy Cup...

In my Super Baby Food book it talks about giving the baby a few sips of water when they starts solids in order to help with her kidney functions in giving the solid foods. I bought a sippy cup at babies r us not too long ago just to see what she she would do and she just chewed on the top and I even tried and it was hard for me to get water out. So my friend Rhoda told me about a cup that her granddaughter uses called the Zoli BOT and it worked wonderful for her. Well you can only order it or the closest place to get one is about 20 miles from here so I was just going to wait until we had time to get one. Well when I was looking at the cup I saw that it had a straw instead of your usual cup. I went to Target this afternoon and always have to make a trip through the baby isle to see if any new goodies came out and I saw this cup that was a starter cup and had 4months and trainer cup. I said well I might as well give it a shot. So right before I was about to nurse her and put her down for bed I gave it a try. I sat her up and put the straw in her mouth and....
She grabbed the cup, latched on, and before I could help her hold it she was sucking water through the straw..ahhh! I was so shocked I was trying to hold her and take a picture to send to Jason :) She got more on her PJ's than she did in her mouth though because I think she was confused on how to swallow it sitting up and not laying down like she usually is..LoL! I know it will come in time though. I was just so proud of her for being able to do that...it may be something that all babies can do but it just amazes me how fast she is growing and the things she can catch on to so quickly! (we may be in trouble when she starts talking..hee) She got super mad at me when I took it away though because I think she would have tried to drink the entire cup of water I poured. I am still going to get that Zoli as soon as we get some time or I just give up and order it online!

Hope you all have a great weekend and Fabulous Father's day!!

Solids and Sleep

This little girl is loving herself some solids...we started the day she turned four months because have you seen her thighs she was saying she needed some "real" food..ha! We usually sit her at the table with us when we eat dinner and it was so funny to watch her while we would eat. She would follow the food from my spoon to mouth and get excited like I was supposed to give some to her or something! She is a little ham :) I went to a local farmers market and got some fresh peaches to start her out with. It took her a while to get used to the spoon feeding, which is a given, but she has really gotten the hang of it now...so I thought until we next tried Avocados and she stopped opening her mouth and I got worried..until we went to sweet potatoes and she was mouth wide opened again (so we will try avocados again in a few weeks) This week we started bananas and again mouth wide open (she is like her Gigi)
I found a Whole Foods store right down the road so I plan on going there at the first of every month and stocking up to make foods and freeze for the month. With my baby brezza, which I highly recommend, it is super easy to make all of the foods and freeze them, along with handy dandy super baby foods book to guide me along.
I told myself when I started back to work that I would just survive until the summer with Lyla's sleeping arrangements because I knew what was easiest to get her to go back to sleep and that was sleeping in her bouncy seat in our bed. Well as time went out she got bigger and she was about to outgrow it but I had a few more weeks of work left and we just made do. Well I set my goal for yesterday to start her naps (out of the swing) and getting her to sleep in her bed at night time and get that bouncy seat out. Well I figured it was going to be difficulty because we are now going on almost 5 months in there. Well the naps started out rough yesterday morning. I rocked her until she was almost asleep and laid her in her bed (with the cover off of her bouncy seat in there..I was trying anything..ha!) well that lasted about 15 minutes...her usual time of sleeping on her back. I patted her back to sleep and it lasted another 15 minutes.
We did this for about two hours and then it was time for her to eat again so she just got up. I knew she was worn out from not having a morning nap so I let her nap in her swing that afternoon (yes I know I back tracked) but she didn't even sleep 10 minutes in there either so it was just one of those not gonna nap kind of days. Well we went and laid down in our bed to catch up on our DVR and she nursed played a little and I decided to lay her on her belly to sleep since I was right there with her...and this is what happened....
She slept 2 whole hours!! So I knew I should try it in her bassinet that night to see if it would work...It made me a nervous wreck but I know that she was right next to me and I would probably be up all night checking on her (and I was) but it did the trick. She slept from 9 until 4 in the morning while on her tummy :) Well let's just hope it wasn't a fluke thing and it happens again tonight!

I am so thankful that God has blessed me with this wonderful job so that I get to spend summers at home with my girl. We just get to play and cuddle and I just love on her all day long! She is our everything and I am so thankful for her!!

Watson Reunion and NB bound...

I used to LOVE Watson reunions..there were so many people there, good food and just a great time. As time goes by things do change though...We drove straight there from Houston and with a baby that had been in the car that long and a dog that had also it was kind of rushed and crazy. I did manage to get a few pics though. We are in NB at moms for a few days and I am very thankful. I just feel like I can relax and not worry about anything here so it is a breath of fresh air. I can get my homework done, clothes washed, dinner on the table, and someone to entertain Lyla while I just sit and relax :)

We also got to go see my friend Erin on Saturday afternoon and I am so sad that I didn't get a picture with her and Lyla! We don't get to see each other very often so I have to get better at taking pictures when we do get to visit.

Mason has been super jealous since we got here and mom has only paid attention to Lyla...he doesn't do this to me at home but I guess he just thinks she should pay him all her attention and it is not happening. So he has just been pouting around the house and barking for snacks (which he gets because mom feels bad..LoL)

I am SO glad that I am out for the summer so I get to spend all of this wonderful time with Lyla..she is growing so quickly and changing daily and I just love spending every minute with her.
